Munich/Zurich/Madrid/Luxembourg, 21 November, 2024 — YIELCO Investments Group (“YIELCO”), a specialist in private markets, announces the first closing of its co-investment fund YIELCO Infrastructure Opportunities. The fund with a target capitalisation of EUR 200 million offers investors an opportunity-driven infrastructure co-investment strategy with high inflation protection. The geographical focus is on Europe and North America, with a small proportion invested outside these two regions. The portfolio will ultimately comprise up to 15 co-investments alongside experienced infrastructure managers and will be diversified across various sectors.
Claudio Ghisu, Co-Head Infrastructure, explains: “Having supported our mandate clients in the area of infrastructure co-investments for many years, we are very pleased to now also create access to high-yield co-investment opportunities for our broader investor base with our first infrastructure co-investment fund. The fund’s strategy builds on YIELCO’s long-standing infrastructure investment philosophy. The investment focus is on core+ and value-add opportunities in the small and mid-market segment, which have an asymmetric risk-return profile. We aim to make investments that offer the downside protection typical of infrastructure — for example through long-term contracts and inflation protection — but at the same time have attractive potential returns through active value enhancement measures.”
High capital requirements for infrastructure investments due to long-term trends
Uwe Fleischhauer, founding partner and Member of the Management Board of YIELCO Investments AG, comments: “Global infrastructure offers attractive return opportunities in the private capital market. Issues such as decarbonisation, digitalisation, demographic change and decentralisation are becoming increasingly important in the core segments of energy supply, transport and telecommunications infrastructure. Market growth and new areas of investment have significantly increased the variety of investment opportunities. In view of the continuing immense need for investment and the social and political relevance, we expect the importance of private capital in the financing of infrastructure projects to increase further. Currently, only around three per cent of global investment requirements are covered by private capital.”
