María Sanz, Co-Head Private Equity, is a member of the Management Board and Equity Partner at YIELCO, and is also a member of the Investment and ESG Committee.

Previ­ously, she was a founding member, partner and member of the investment advisory committee at SwanCap Partners, where she worked in private equity for 15 years, including its prede­cessor UniCredit Prin­cipal Invest­ments. She was involved in the devel­opment of the HVB / UniCredit’s private equity port­folio and the launch of 3 funds of funds investing in primaries, secon­daries and co-invest­ments at SwanCap Partners. Prior to that, she spent 8 years at HVB AG in Inter­na­tional Markets focusing on currency management and interest rate deriv­a­tives. She started her career at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in Frankfurt and Arthur Andersen in Madrid.

Since 2004, she has been involved in more than 240 invest­ments (primaries, secon­daries and co-invest­ments) with capital commit­ments of more than EUR 7.7bn as a due dili­gence respon­sible or member of the investment committee. Within the private equity segment, she has covered the full spectrum of strategies from special situ­a­tions to small, mid and large cap buyouts, as well as invest­ments in private debt and infra­structure equity strategies.

She holds a double degree (BSc) in Inter­na­tional Business Admin­is­tration and Management from ICADE — Univer­sidad Ponti­ficia de Comillas in Madrid and ESB Business School in Germany. She is a CFA char­ter­holder, member of the CFA Institute and holds the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing.
